Why Do You Not Want to Have Long Grubs in Your Lawn?
Thursday, November 24th, 2011
Grubs can be found in your lawn normally during late spring and early summer. Normally, lawn grubs does not kill your lawn directly but rather, they eat the tap roots of your turf. Usually, one or two lawn grubs won’t damage your lawn. But if you have more than 10 grubs, then it should be taken cared of as soon as possible. Grubs eat the grass root which causes the lawn to wilt, dry out and will eventually damage the beauty of your lawn. It will leave the grass more likely to die and whither. The best way to know if your lawn is infested by grubs is when your lawn starts to turn yellow for no apparent reasons at all. Another thing, you would know that you have a problem with grubs if you can pull the grass out of your lawn very easily. This is mainly because grubs have eaten the roots of your grass which causes the grass to be weak.

Low Cost Gardening
Sunday, September 11th, 2011
Gardening can often become a burden to many of us, but it doesn’t have to be. What makes it better is knowing that we can get all the tools we need at low prices – a low price doesn’t always mean it’s a low quality product, i’ve experienced this myself and i’m not particularly a fan of gardening myself either.
The best money saving product in the gardening arsenal tends to be the cheap petrol lawnmowers. Most people think that because it’s powered by petrol that it’s automatically going to cost an arm and a leg, that or it’s going to be a poor quality product, but that’s far from the truth.
Let’s take the Hayter 122 for example. This costs a mere $95 and offers a lot of the features the higher priced petrol lawn mowers have – some may lack a few features, of course, but not everyone needs every feature on the planet in order to get finely cut grass.

Organic Market Garden
Friday, July 1st, 2011
Starting and working on this organic market garden project is a lot of work, not including the work done on growing the crops. You need to take time to kill common weeds in your garden too.
Bear in mind and plan out how much time and investment you are willing to put into this organic market garden. If you start a small garden farm you will be needing a few hundred dollars to get everything setup while a bigger one would require several thousand. But think about it, if you are growing herbs and medicinal plants, these medicinal plants and herb seeds are selling for about $3 per packet of 50 to 500 seeds. It is normal that the price of these herbs and medicinal plant seeds would go up with rare varieties so be prepared for that.
You can normally sell the plants grown in your garden for around $5 per plant but you can vary the price with variety and growth. For example, a small 50g of cut and dry dandelion root can be sold for about $2 per bag.

Amaze Your Neighbors by Landscaping Your Backyard
Saturday, April 30th, 2011
One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is that they pay little attention to how their lawn is cut. They think that any lawn mower will do. This is something that can’t be further from the truth. High quality lawn mowers such as the Earthwise 60120 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower, offer the user exceptional comfort and control. This level of control and precision can not be replicated by “no name” lawn mowers. Also, some of us incorrectly assume that landscaping is a task accomplished on larger yards and fancy neighborhoods. Small backyards are actually simpler and more affordable to landscape than a mansion in the country. It is important that you try to sketch a plan of your yard and invest some time to figure out scale and placement. Any time that you decorate a room, you ought to start by using a focal point, and organizing a yard isn’t much different.

Factors to Consider when Buying Riding Lawn Mowers
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Which of the many riding lawn mowers on the market would work best to help cut your lawn mowing chore down to size will be greatly dependent on you and what else you hope to do with it. In other words that means you need to think ahead.
Ideally you have to select one that will best fit your needs and your yard size without breaking the bank.
Rule Of Thumb: For the most part the larger your yard is, the bigger you want your riding lawn mower to be. It follows that the bigger the mower is in size, the longer its blades will be. And blade size would determine how fast your machine can cut your grass.
Aside from the size of your yard, also consider what you want your lawn mower to do. With a wide variety of accessories and additional features, your lawn mower can be transformed to another machine beyond one just meant for cutting grass. For instance if you live where it snows, being able to pack a snow removal blade may be more than a little appealing. While gardeners will find all sorts of implements to take their mower well beyond simple mowing.
Next, think about what kind of engine you would want to run your mower. You can choose among air cooled gasoline, fluid cooled gasoline and liquid cooled diesel. Most will be gasoline powered making for easy fueling. But at this rate you may want to pick up one of the electric lawn mowers to handle the trim work that your monster machine can’t easily reach.
Lastly and most importantly is your budget. How much are you willing to spend for your mower? The bigger your lawn, the more it will cost. And you don’t just want to budget for the mower itself but also some accessories that go with it.
Indeed, it is best to plan ahead when it comes to buying lawn mowers. So you get one that’s suited for all the needs you are conjuring up for it even as we speak.

How Electric Hedge Trimmers Can Help Reduce the Length of Grass
Thursday, December 23rd, 2010
Electric hedge trimmers have become the most environmentally friendly way to trim hedges and cut grass in the yard. These trimmers don’t require being plugged in, so they are extremely mobile and can be taken from place to place, depending what it’s being used on. These are either powered by gas or batteries, depending on the brand and the type of hedge trimmer chosen. Both have their perks and are easy to use, but some are more heavy than others, making them hard to lift up for certain jobs. Usually, the trimmers that take batteries are going to be lighter, so they will be more easy to hold up high in the event of trimming a high hedge. The batteries do run out quickly though, so this can also cause more of an expense for anyone who needs to use these a lot more than normal. Choose whichever works best for you, because you are the one who is going to be using it all the time!

Growing a Cilantro Plant
Wednesday, December 15th, 2010
Many people say that Cilantro Leaves are good for adding flavors to their dishes especially when they are preparing Mexican or South East Asian recipes. However, most of them say that it is difficult to grow cilantro. Growing cilantro should not be hard as you think. The seeds that you buy for planting is covered in a husk. Inside those husks are two cilantro seeds. You need to take off those seeds inside those husks to provide a greater chance of growing cilantro. Soak the cilantro seeds in water for a maximum of two days. After drying them, they are now ready for planting. You may opt to plant them indoors but once they become two inches tall, you have to transfer them outdoors. This type of herb does not like too much exposure from the sun so it is to put shade on them when the sun is up in the afternoon. Water them every day and for about six weeks they are ready for harvesting. Happy planting!

Single Roses Available from Knockout Roses
Sunday, November 28th, 2010
Most rose growers produce the double or floribunda rose varieties. If you are planning to put roses into a hedge, you might try some of the single variety like those from knockout roses. They look more like wild roses to me and seem to bloom for a very long time. I like all kinds of flowering shrubs and plants in the garden. The trick to a good landscaping plan is to have something in bloom at all times. This takes a lot of planning, not only for the blooming schedule, but coordinating those throughout the garden based on sun or shade issues. It’s extremely difficult to find plants that provide blossoms in shade. And often time, they have a brief blooming period. I think a nursery could definitely help in the selection of the plants. Often times, they have access to plants that are not even in the nursery, but could be brought in for you.

Do You Have A Termite Problem?
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010
Do you think you have a termite problem? If you suspect you have a termite problem, it’s best you call in the pest control guys soon, as otherwise your home could wind up with a lot of damage that will cost thousands to fix. Unlike your garden ants which don’t threaten your home directly, termites feed on wood and the wood in your house will do just fine for them. Don’t be a victim of a termite invasion; learn to spot the typical termite signs before it’s too late.
Termites mostly attack dead wood and therefore, one of the best ways to detect them early is to place some piles of wood in your garden and backyard. Leave the wood untouched for months; if there are termites in your vicinity, they will sniff the wood out and proceed to attck the wood. After a few months, uncover the wood and if you spot any termites, you know you are off to a good start in preventing the termites from moving on to your house.
